Here is an interesting Mustang that you don't see many of - an original '91 5.0L LX Mustang SSP (Special Service Package) Police vehicle. Since I served in the Highway Patrol for quite a while and spent an awful great deal of time in my patrol vehicles (the office!), it's easy to get attached to these cars. These SSP Mustangs were renowned as the most amazing factory built Police cars ever provided to Police Dept's in the USA and probably the world. They had many different aspects to regular production 5.0L Mustangs and GT's, so that they'd cope with the Police work that they were required to do. They were quick and ridiculously reliable.
This particular vehicle has quite low mileage, racking up just 46k miles since new. It's a former SSP Mustang of the the Santa Clara Sheriffs Dept in California and was assigned unit # 91054. It does have the buck tags still in place, along with a lot of documentation as to its use. The car was used until it was placed for sale by the county in an auction in 2006. At that time it was sold with 41,000 miles. It presently has 46, 323 miles.
The vehicle was restored in Canada. It has been stripped, repainted and a new interior installed. It was painted its original MK Twilight blue. All moldings, window and truck moldings, along with new quarter windows were replaced with NOS units. All gauges and bezel were redone, along with having the original 10 hole wheels reconditioned and new NOS Goodyear Eagle GT's installed. New NOS Headlights and tail lights were installed, the transmission was serviced. The P/W & P/L also were replaced with NOS parts. Included are over $12,000 in receipts for this car and an appraisal for well above the asking price.
There are numerous pictures of the restoration of the vehicle and all original Police Equipment was in a box. The original siren speaker (under right front valance), rare front hot drop light. It has two (Blue & Red) rear deck lights installed, as well. Headlights are fixed on the old California Wig wag system. The original radio box, speaker, and radio are included . The original wiring for all of this is still in the car from trunk, to under the rear seat.
The car has been restored well enough to win gold in concours driven class at a recent MCA show in the USA.
